Forum highlights business and policy link for Ontario firms
ONEIA's Environment and Cleantech Business and Policy Forum was well-received by more than 160 attendees on May 16. The sold-out event featured business content in the morning and policy roundtable discussions in the afternoon.
Attendees heard in the morning sessions from speakers from a range of companies and investors, including KPMG, TMX Group (home of the TSX and TSX Venture exchanges), Enbridge, RWDI, BDC Venture Capital and Veolia Water. A luncheon "fireside chat" with the Deputy Ministers of Environment and Northern Development and Mines provided candid insight into the priorities of both ministries.
The afternoon saw roundtables with senior industry and government representatives who discussed common issues in the areas of water, waste, brownfields and approvals. The day concluded with a reception co-hosted by the Ontario Minister of Environment and the presentation of the annual Errick "Skip" Willis award to one of the province's most accomplished private sector environmental policy advocates, Robert J. Redhead.
